Delirium - a MUST read for 2011!
I am totally pushing this book to everyone I know & 1.) I haven't even finished it yet! & 2.) it's not even out yet! However.. I have some secrets to share if you have an e-reader (nook/kindle). I recently discovered this little place called netGalley that offers tons & tons of books for FREE that have not been published yet - the catch? you just need to have a blog. It's awesome & I'm totally loving it.
About Delirium - this is the perfect antidote for all you Hunger Games fans! This dystopian book is A-MAZING. I don't know another word that does it justice. Seriously. If you don't have an e-reader & can't download it from the above mentioned, then you just have to wait until February 1st when it will be published. This story is so compelling & by far one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Zombies are the new Vampires!
At least, that's the word on the street.
WARNING! This post may not be suitable for Kari to read.
I have had a bit of an obsession with Zombies as of late. It started when I read The Forest of Hands and Teeth, by Carrie Ryan. It was a good read. Imagine a village that seems normal on the inside, but all along the perimeter is a chain link fence, and behind that fence are ZOMBIES!
Then I started watching The Walking Dead on AMC. Ugh! Each episode is just so INTENSE. I recommend the show, it is most def not YA though. And, according to the zombie apocalypse survival quiz on the website, I would survive and NOT turn into a walker and would be the old, wise one of the group. So stick with me, I will protect you.
Last night I finished The Enemy, by Charlie Higson. Another great read! Everyone in London, and possibly the world over the age of 16 contracts some mysterious illness that kills them, but those that didn't die from it turn into kid eating machines! Suspense was great, twists and turns everywhere. After doing some Internet research today I found that this will be a series of six books. I will stick with them. The author introduces a lot of characters, and does such a great job developing them in such a short time that you care for all of them (well, almost all).
Of course, I don't really think zombies are the new vampires. They aren't nearly as good looking, and kissing a zombie? Gross! You know it would just try to eat your face off. But to me, zombies are fascinating and frightening at the same time. They are scary people! The thing about them is that they are relentless, they don't die (unless you shoot, bludgeon, or otherwise damage the brain). They will not give up the pursuit of a human flavored meal! That's why I love a good zombie story, you know the suspense will be over the top. And the story of the survivors is bound to be heartbreaking.

LAST City of Fallen Angels Teaser
"The alley and the music all fell away, and there was nothing but her and the rain and Jace, his hands on her. . . He made a noise of surprise, low in his throat, and dug his fingers into the thin fabric of her tights. Not unexpectedly, they ripped, and his wet fingers were suddenly on the bare skin of her legs. Not to be outdone, Clary slid her hands under the hem of his soaked shirt, and let her fingers explore what was underneath: the tight, hot skin over his ribs, the ridges of his abdomen, the scars on his back. This was uncharted territory for her, but it seemed to be driving him crazy: he was moaning softly against her mouth, kissing her harder and harder, as if it would never be enough, not quite enough —"I'm pretty sure Cassandra Clare was saving the best teaser for last! Holy crap. That was HOT!! April can't get here soon enough.

What are you reading?
This book series is so good! There are 3 out right now, Gone, Hunger (which I am curently reading), and Lies. Plague comes out 4/5/11.
What happens: everyone over the age of 14 disappears, out of the blue, no warning, just gone.
That's all I'm gonna write because I don't want to give anything away. Get these books!

Hunger Games Fan-Made Trailer: WOW.
This makes me so, so excited for a Hunger Games movie.
SPOILER ALERT - my post below AND the video are spoilers if you haven't read the book (the first book).
It's the scene where Rue dies. And it made me want to cry all over again (like I felt when I read the book).
Evidently it was made as some sort of audition? Despite a technical flaw - Rue is dark-skinned in the book, not fair-haired and skinned - it's pretty impressive. (Also, I was a bit confused until I saw the end credits b/c I didn't realize it's Glimmer making the kill at the beginning.) I will say that it's harder watching the violence and seeing the age of the kids - it's easier to get over that somehow in the book for me, I think? Because I can't see their age? It was also weird seeing them in normal clothes running around, like a zip-up hoodie - for some reason the normalcy of it was shocking for me in the bloodbath.
But, YAY! Exciting to see this book move to the big screen!

What are you reading?
I'm reading Swoon, by Nina Malkin.
It's the story of Candice, or Dice as she is annoyingly called in the book. Her cousin Penelope, Pen is possessed by the hot Sinclair Youngblood Powers (you guessed it, call him Sin). When Dice decides to perform an exorcism, she succeeds, but ends up giving Sin his hot young body back. Then lots of mischief and sexy times ensue. PS, this book is for the older YA crowd, I was reading one scene and thought I stumbled into reading a Black Dagger Brotherhood book.
The writing is good, witty, funny, sometimes she tries a little too hard to come across as YA (it's written in the first person narrative). I think I like it? What I really want is for someone else to read it, then tell me if I like it or not.
What do you guys think of these "what are you readings?" I'm not that great at writing reviews, but I think it's fun to know what people are reading, so we can get some new book ideas.

The night was fhun and full of drahma, as any good BDB Party should be. John Matthew (aka Jill) was scheduled to come but he was going through the change (aka stomach flu) and couldn't make it. There was also an epic battle against lessers (in the form of an ice storm) which left all of us exhausted and hung over. Ok, maybe the ice storm had less to do with my hangover than those Blue MFers I was drinking?

City of Fallen Angels Teasers!
Cassandra Clare has given us another teaser for her upcoming release of City of Angels. She has informed her fans that December will be her last monthly teaser. From there everything comes from the publisher until the release date of her book (April 5, 2011).
Teaser 1:
The Queen’s eyes glittered. “You told me that you did not wish to make a compact with me, for there was nothing I could give you. You said there was nothing in the world you wanted. When you imagine your life without him, do you still feel the same?”
*Why are you doing this to me?* Clary wanted to scream, but she said nothing, for the Faerie Queen glanced past her, and smiled, saying: “Wipe your tears, for he returns. It will do you no good for him to see you cry.”
Teaser 2:
“That wasn’t fair," Simon said.
“Maybe,” said Isabelle. “But I watch my brothers give their hearts away and I think, Don’t you know? Hearts are breakable. And I think even when you heal, you’re never what you were before.”

The Vampire Diaries Catch-Up Chat!
I have finally caught up with all the latest episodes of The Vampire Diaries as of this morning!! This season has just blown me-- I was very worried that last season was going to be a fluke and that the show was going to have a 2nd season slump on creativity and storyline, BUT I WAS SO WRONG!! I think I just thought the show was too good to be true, I mean it's such a good show-- how can the writers be so awesome and creative? It just goes to show that I am not in any way a writer, cause I can't even imagine coming up with such great story lines, and plot twist like that which this show has delivered to us since it began.
I have just finished watching the episode titled, Katerina, and it has really brought us to an interesting point in this 2nd season-- here is my attempt at a recap of the last few episodes I have failed to blog about:
Katerina/Katherine & Elena- The idea of why Elena is a doppelganger is now known, and it's interesting. I really had no idea nor do I still have any idea of what twist and turns this show is going to take us to the end of the season, and I love that, cause too often I find that shows and movies are too predictable. My hope is that Katherine and Elena will evolve into one person/vampire.
Damon: Love him, love him, love him. And now hopefully the writers have given Damon somebody to love that isn't Elena as well. I think this new Vamp could be a good match for Damon... she just needs a little more edge to her? I dunno, though my new theme song for Damon is Usher's "Somebody to Love"
Alaric: Where for art thou????? NOT ENOUGH OF MY VAMPIRE SLAYER!!!
What do you all think?

City of Fallen Angels Teaser
Cassandra Clare has given us TWO City of Fallen Angel teasers this month! First up, Magnus & Alec.. and then of course Clary & Jace :-)
“I don’t know what I want.” Alec, his head bent, was playing with an abandoned plastic fork. Though his eyes were defiantly cast down, their pale blue color was visible even through his lowered eyelids, which were pale and fine as parchment. Magnus had always found humans more beautiful than any other creatures alive on the earth, and had often wondered why. Only a few years before dissolution, Camille had said. But it was mortality that made them what they were: the flame that blazed brighter for its flickering. He wondered if the Angel had ever considered making his human servants, the Nephilim, immortal. But no, for all their strength, they fell as humans had always fallen in battle through all the ages of the world.
“You’ve got that look again,” Alec said peevishly, glancing up through his lashes. “Like you’re staring at something I can’t see. Are you thinking about Camille?”
“Not really,” Magnus said. “How much of the conversation I had with her did you overhear?”
“Most of it.” Alec prodded the tablecloth with his fork. “I was listening at the door. Enough.”
“Not at all enough, I think.” Magnus glared at the fork and it skidded out of Alec’s grasp and across the table toward him. He slammed his hand down on top of it and said, “Stop fidgeting. What was it I said to Camille that bothered you so much?”
Alec raised his blue eyes. “Who’s Will?”
-------
Jace caught her hand in his. “Just say it again.”
“I’ll never leave you,” Clary said.
“No matter what happens, what I do?”

Question of the Week
I have found that I enjoy when TV Shows, Books, and other Movie's reference the Twilight world. Last night while watching the show The Middle there was one, and I just loved it! Last nights episode focused on the daughter, Sue, who has a crush on her older brother's friend. At one point she is so obsessed with him that she can't stop thinking about him and shouts at her mother
"Ah! I'm just going to shut myself in my room and read Eclipse... not even that may work!!"
Just too funny!
So, my question is this: Where in everyday life, or pop culture have you come across a Twilight reference that made you laugh, smile, or shake your head??
Here is a clip from last nights show, unfortunately it doesn't have that line in it.

Vampire Diaries Season 2 Epi 4 "Memory Lane"
Was it just me, or did anyone else feel like they kept waiting for something major to happen the whole episode? And then it just didn't? I know not every episode is going to be completely amazing... there will be a few in between as "fillers" and I felt like this was one of those. There were a few moments that made me laugh, and a few moments that made me gasp, but nothing too dramatic.
Unfortunately I did not see too much hottness from our Stefan this episode. Don't get me wrong -- he is hot all on his own! But nothing major stood out to me. I did however find him pretty yummy during the scene when he had Katherine in the basement & she threatened him to stay away from Elena or else she would hurt everyone around her. His anger & rage outburst was pretty sexy!
Best Damon Line:
(at Jenna's bbq - between Damon & Mason)
Mason: "We haven't met. I'm Mason Lockwood."
Damon: "Oh sure. Damon Salvatore."
Mason: "I know, I've heard a lot of great things about you."
Damon: "Really? That's weird. Because I'm a dick."
hehehe ♥ oh Damon! yes, you can be a dick but we still LOVE you!
Later during the bbq, I had a good laugh as the banter continued between Damon & Mason:
Mason: "I'm sorry. I'm an animal." -- when grabbing the pie with his hands.
Damon: "I always pegged you as the lone wolf." -- talking about Mason back in high school.
Mason: "Well I'm sure you were the lady killer." -- refering to Damon in his younger years.
Did anyone else freak when Stefan almost kissed Katherine??!! I ALMOST thought he was going to give in! I was screaming at the tv!!
After tonight's episodes some questions have surfaced:
- Why is Caroline helping Katherine? do you think she is scared & doing it only out of fear? or could there be an ulterior motive that we have yet to see?
- What is the deal with the moon stone that Tyler is keeping away from Mason? and why did Katherine have it to begin with?
- Does anyone else think 1800 Stefan & Damon are hideous??!!! lol

It's about that time...
Time for what, you may be wondering-- Well, it is almost time for the cast and crew to assemble for the next Twilight Saga movie, Breaking Dawn! They are to start filming in mid October, and I'm finding myself oddly excited at the idea of it, we've kinda gone through a lull since Eclipse and I'm ready to starting hearing about the next movie. Mostly I am excited, cause I can't wait to see how they actually make this book happen as a motion picture. Vampire Diaries Season 2 Epi 3 "Bad Moon Rising" Discussion
Did anyone else have "Twilight-esque" moments while watching this episode??
1. Stefan(edward) and Elena's (bella) kiss before she went of with Damon (jacob)-- very treaty-line like
2. Stefan hunting with Caroline for rabbits, strongly resembled Edward to me
Hottest Stefan Moment: I'm enjoying Stefan taking Caroline under his wing, it is really fun to see him develop a new friendship with her. In this weeks episode I adored the scene of Stefan and Caroline hunting for rabbits-- he looked fantastic in that grey tee shirt he was wearing. I mean seriously, the make-up department has stepped up their game this year with Stefan, he is breathtaking.
How awesome was the dialogue between these two? I loved Caroline teasing Stefan about his "Serious Vamp look" and such.
Best Damon Line: "Like that amazing Vampire story?" (his retort to Isobel's research being a bunch of myths)
YAY YAY YAY!!! ALARIC HAS RETURNED!!! I was thrilled at the return of Alaric to the show, I just really love the character-- he brings an important presence of an older male (whose on the side of good) to the show that I think it important to the relationships of our characters.
So, the search for the ulterior motives of Kathryn continues, and that brings some of the gang to Duke to look through Isobel's research. Damon finds a book that may lead to some insite to Kathryn's motives. Right away we learn with this book that she hails from Europe and that Petrova was her maiden name
(is that correct?? I'm writing this off of notes, a few days after I've written them!! It really is easier to write this as soon as the epi finishes!! my bad!)
Back to Caroline, Stefan and the Werewolf Mason-- What was Stefan thinking walking towards the back of that SUV??? He has superpower hearing, he knew that there was a very wound up dog was inside in the most tame situation!!! Curiosity, I suppose, and boy was his walk up to the truck suspenseful!!! "Oh, SHIT!" came flying out of my mouth at the moment the window broke, THANK GOD HE DIDN'T GET BITTEN!!!! I'm so afraid of that happening now!
I truly hope that Caroline doesn't become Kathryn's plaything or cohort-- I've got high hopes for Caroline and I hope she doesn't automatically do Kathryn's bidding.... she won't right!?!
Where do you all see this coming to a head? Anyone have a guess as to what Kathryn's up to?
I'm throwing this pic in cause I think it's funny-

City of Fallen Angels Teaser (part 2)
For all you Simon fans...
“You think you’re a vampire,” Simon’s mother said, numbly. “You think you drink blood.”
“I do drink blood,” Simon said. “I drink animal blood.”
“But you’re a vegetarian.” His mother looked to be on the verge of tears.
“I was. I’m not now. I can’t be. Blood is what I live on.” Simon’s throat felt tight. “I’ve never hurt anyone. I’d never drink someone’s blood. I’m still the same person. I’m still me.”
His mother seemed to be fighting for control. “Your new friends — are they vampires, too?”
Simon thought of Isabelle, Maia, Jace. He couldn’t explain Shadowhunters and werewolves, too. It was too much. “No. But — they know I am one.”
“Did — did they give you drugs? Make you take something? Something that would make you hallucinate?”
“No. Mom, this is real.”
“It’s not real,” she whispered. “You think it’s real. Oh, God. Simon. I’m so sorry. I should have noticed. We’ll get you help. We’ll find someone. A doctor. Whatever it costs —”
“I can’t go to a doctor.”
“Yes, you can. You need to be somewhere. A hospital, maybe —”
He held out his wrist to her. “Feel my pulse,” he said.
She looked at him, bewildered. “What?”
“My pulse,” he said. “Take it. If I have one, okay. I’ll go to the hospital with you. If not, you have to believe me.”
She wiped the tears from her eyes and slowly reached to take his wrist.

City of Fallen Angels Teaser
Cassandra Clare has given us another teaser from City of Fallen Angels (I believe she posts these monthly.. so as soon as I get them via twitter I will post them in SVC for everyone to see!)
Side note: this teaser is not a spoiler, but will make more sense to those who have read Clockwork Angel ;-)
"Camille,” Magnus said. “It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
She smiled. Her skin looked whiter than he recalled, and dark spidery veins were beginning to show beneath its surface. Her hair was still the color of spun silver and her eyes were still green as a cat’s. She was still beautiful. Looking at her, he was in London again. He saw the gaslight and smelled the smoke and dirt and horses, the metallic tang of fog, the flowers in Kew Gardens. He saw a boy with black hair and blue eyes like Alec’s, heard violin music like the sound of silver water. He saw a girl with long brown hair and a serious face. In a world where everything went away from him eventually, she was one of the few remaining constants.
And then there was Camille.
“I’ve missed you, Magnus,” she said.

Vampire Diaries Season 2 Epi 2 "Brave New World" Discussion
This episode went buy in the blink of an eye, I swear it seemed ten minuets long! But that is a good thing, Vamp Diaries killed it again! So great!
Hottest Stefan Moment:
The whole episode! Damn he is just awesome this year! But of course his most epic moment was the last scene, waking up Elena and jumping up into the ferris wheel- Seriously, how awesome is he?
I also really loved his scene with Caroline in the bathroom- he is just blowing me away this year, thus far.
Best Damon Line:
In this episode it was Damon and Stefan together that created the best line of the show-
Stefan "Maybe he's a Ninja Turtle... or a Zombie"
Damon "You've got no comedic timing..."
Our Damon is still a little lost boy, but I love the chemistry between him and Jeremy-- they are going to be interesting together! And I must say, Jeremy looked fantastic in this episode, I dare even say he was HOT! Much better wardrobe and hair than the first episode, so glad not to see the leather jacket again.
My one disappointment-- WHERE IS ALARIC?????
The Werewolves-- So we know that they are indeed Werewolves, if we go by the clip for next weeks epi. But seriously-- where is the hair?? where are the wolfy like features? Mason looks more like and Incredible Hulk than a Werewolf.
I'm curious about what the Moonstone actually does.
Caroline--- SO awesome! I'm really going to like her as a Vampire. I loved her last scene with Matt, and her following the technique Stefan gave her in the bathroom. I think the show did an awesome job of her becoming aware of what she was and her struggle with the realization and the confusion all at the same time. How bad ass was she with Damon in the school? (when Elena, Stefan, and Damon conferenced in Alaric's classroom I was hoping he would make his appearance than--- am I wrong? I don't remember him in the first episode...? was he at the Mayor's wake? or the hospital?)
Bonnie-- I was so excited about Carter, I thought they were introducing her new love interested! Booooo!

Having a book drought?
I suggest picking up Kelly Creagh's debut novel, Nevermore.
Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.

I just finished reading this book myself & thought it was a good read to keep me entertained after coming off of such a book high from Mockingjay and Clockwork Angel. If you need something to quench your thirst, then I suggest grabbing this one. Don't be afraid of the 500 some odd pages. The story keeps you engaged & the ending will leave you wanting more. I believe this is the first of a 3 book trilogy (or at least I hope so b/c if not the ending will piss me off! lol). The references to Edgar Ellen Poe are interesting & something different than your typical supernatural teenage romance. If you decide to read it, let me know -- would love to discuss once you're finished.

Vampire Diaries Season 2 Premier "The Return" Discussion!
WOW! WOAH! OH MY GAWD! I exclaimed that and more tonite as I watched the premier tonite-- SOSOSOSOSO Great!
First up- We were left with three big cliff hangers from season one:
1. Jeremy- Dead?
2. Tyler- Werewolf?
3. Katherine- Why?
Stefan's Hottest Moments:
1.Blue V-neck tee-shirt!! The wardrobe department did good here.
2. Stefan seeing right through Katherine, and literally hurling her across the room! YES! I did not want him to be tricked by her, I was screaming at the TV for him not to be tricked by her! I love Stefan, love him and this episode brought him to us after the hiatus raring to go! I love "tough guy" Stefan!
Damon's best line: "To risk another frown line, on a very crowded forehead" Oh, our poor Damon! He was trying and doing so well at being a god guy! I was actually pissed at Bonnie for giving him such a hard time- I yelled "Bitch!" at the TV when she used her power on him. But that ending was amazing, and our poor Damon has fallen off the "Nice Wagon" once again! My mouth hit the floor when he snapped Jeremy's neck!!
Episode Overview:
So our cliffhangers have somewhat been answered. Jeremy did not overdose, but then oh my gosh did I for a minute think he was going to be a Vamp at the end!!! Effin Damon!! Yay, to John for giving him the ring!
Tyler is definitely something, I'm still guessing Were-- but I'm excited to hear more about this Curse, Uncle Mason(was that his name?) is speaking about-- I'm sure Bonnie will play into that. And can we say BAD ASS BONNIE?? Though, I was expecting something between her and Elena about not taking the spell off that vamp shrieker thingy from the season finale...?
Katherine- Back to get Stefan? I'm not sure I buy that, cause she isn't doing anything that I would consider close to an attempt at reconciling with him.
So that brings us to Caroline!!! YES!! We now have our new Vamp, curious to see if she will last or be killed off pretty fast. I was bummed when they killed Vicki, Stefan's friend, and Anna off. I knew that too much vamp blood was being shared in this episode for there not be SOMEONE turned- I think Caroline will be alot of fun as a Vamp sidekick to Damon.
Odd things I though of:
- Jeremy's leather jacket was hideous and too big on him
-Elena's hair was not straightened very well at all
- Katherine's necklace = her walking in daylight?
WHAT ARE ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS???

Happy Vampire Diaries Night!!
Hey all! I've missed you, I've been horrendous with blogging this Summer-- but as Fall starts I have vowed to be more active. Im so excited for the premier of Vamp Diaries tonite!! I've been watching Season One all week to get ready for it, and I adore this show even more watching it a second time around! I can't believe how many Tyler forseshadowings there are leading up to the Season One cliff hanger!!! Like literally in one Matt asks Tyler what his deal is (why he's such an Ass), and Tyler responds with he doesn't know-- AND then the camera pans over to the FULL MOON in the sky and holds there!!! And that's in the middle of last season, so obvious now!
So enjoy the season premier, I hear it's going to Epic-- and come back here for discussion! I've got my notebook and pen ready to take notes :)
