Feel the burn...
I just finished the partial draft of Midnight Sun. I know there are previous posts about it, but I had to put up a new one.
I am so in love with Edward.
Waiting for the rest of this is going to be excruciating. She has to write it. It's painful not to know the rest of his thoughts.
Analogy...
Edward : Bella :: Erin : Midnight Sun
And I didn't realize Bella was so hot. Nice.
I am swooning. It's like Edward and I renewed our vows... ;-)

Breaking Dawn Postpartum
We've been experiencing a bit of postpartum depression over here at SVC. (Kari and I have made the diagnosis.) We believe it to be triggered by Breaking Dawn and the fact that it just may now be the last Twilight book to be published. (Ugh, say it ain't so.)
We do see some light at the end of the tunnel, and unfortunately it has come at the price of Stephenie's trust being broken. But as Kari said, and I quote, "being able to read some of Midnight Sun has been like taking a long cool drink of water after being very, very thirsty." I've read half of the manuscript and it is so great; I've been missing Edward for a very long time, and now I've gotten to visit him again!
So since we over here at SVC are feeling a little below the weather, SM must be too. I've pulled the following from TwiMoms and the Lex. They have a few ideas as to showing SM some support and love during this time of postpartum and such.
Reaching out to SM and revisiting the love we have for these books and characters (and Edward) may just be what the doctor ordered!
1. Write a letter to Stephenie at
Stephenie Meyer c/o Author Mail
Little, Brown and Company
237 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10017
2. Participate in a “We support Stephenie Meyer” video. All you have to do is send a picture of yourself showing support to twilightthanks@gmail.com and put “VIDEO” in the subject line. Be creative with your show of support, but make sure it is a still photograph and not an actual video. We will take the photos and make them into a video that will later be posted on You Tube.
3. For those of you graphics people who want to do something, we have another idea. We are going to make a virtual quilt. Send a 200 X 200 support graphic to twilightthanks@gmail.com and we will work it into a virtual support quilt. Make sure you put “QUILT” in the subject line.
4. On Saturday Sept. 13, in honor of Bella’s birthday, wear a twilight themed t-shirt to show your love of the series. If you work or have other obligations that won’t allow you to wear a Twilight shirt, wear all black, white, and red to show your support.

Question of the Day (weekend edition)
My initial response to Midnight Sun being leaked was a selfish one. I was deliriously happy to beable to read it.
I have just gone over to the Lex and TwiMoms to see what has been written and said about this ordeal and I have found that many people are refusing to read it until SM makes a clear decision on if she will finish MS or not.
I do think that the leak is horrid and a violation of SM's trust with whoever this person was. I think it is really interesting that she knows exaclty who did the leaking.
My question is this, do you read the leaked draft? The draft leaves off just prior to the Meadow scene. and what do you think of SM's hesitating to finish it? I for one really want the meadow scene from Edward's point of view. Discuss!

Ready, Set, Action
here are some of todays news tidbits:
Stephenie is going to give directing a try! MTV is reporting that Stephanie will be directing a new music video for the band Jack's Mannequin. Looks like she may be basing the idea for the video on a new idea she's been talking a bit about on one of her next book projects featuring a mermaid. check out the article here
also
over at the EXTRA website they've got an Ashley Greene snippet of her talking about Twilight. It's their video of the day. It's kinda weird because it's really short and her voice sounds strange.

SM insinuates in one of her interviews that Charlie and Billy have some problems because of Charlie spending time with Sue Clearwater. Speculate: What do you think about that? An SVC request for help!!!!
Ok, so me and my Hubby have been disagreeing on names for the baby! So this morning I spent a few hours online going through the various GIRL baby names! (Since we already KNOW what the boy name will be if it's a boy!) AFTER reading A LOT of highly strange ones...here's what I've come up with! (the Middle name for the girl will be Marie and the Last name obviously will be Nelson, so keep that in mind as you check out the names!) So I thought maybe all my SVC friends could give me some input!
I've put them in the order of what I personally like the best!
1. Isabella (only thing holding me back on that one is how VERY popular it is right now! and being and teacher and having like 15 maddy's in my various classes, I really shy away from the HIGHLY popular names!)
2. Brein (said BREE-in)
3. Calla
4.Alanna (can also be spelled Elanna)
5. Lily
6. Brenna
7. Rory (Can also be spelled Rori)
8. Autumn
So tell me what ya like! (feel free to put them in order of how you like them!) Thanks!
Love,
Heatheryruth

Question of the Day
I just read this quick essay about SM and the backlash she has received from Mormons and anti-Mormons.
I find it interesting that SM is often first described as a Mormon when spoken of. (I am one of the perpetrators.) I've got a weird fascination with Mormonism, but this article brought to the surface something I have been wondering about. I have often blamed SM being Mormon for the weird twist she took with Breaking Dawn - not really because I believe that to be the reason, I just needed some sort of explanation in the past few weeks. So my question today is this--
Did/do you let the fact that SM is Mormon affect how you read/view/analyze the books?

Question of the Day - Weekend Edition
My two-part question today stems from the "resolution" of the parental characters at the end of the story. Maggie's question from earlier this week made me think a lot about Charlie.
Do you feel like Charlie's story is truly wrapped up? Do you care? Do you think it's feasible that he is okay with the whole supernatural aspect to his daughter's life?
And similarly, what happens with Renee? Maybe I missed it, but does Bella note how her mother is going to perceive her changed appearance and child?

Review: Twilight Sucks ...And Not In a Good Way
Read review here.
Wow, I could have written this article ten years ago.
My thoughts:
The author argues for feminism, which I applaud, but misses the fact that feminism is about choice. Bella decides for herself to marry Edward and become a vampire. She chooses to make love. She wants to give birth instead of abort. It's traditional (ok, except for the whole vampire thing) but should every woman choose the same thing? Are we chained to something new now? Is being a feminist about not choosing marriage / children? (Dammit, I knew I should have moved to New York and became a graphic designer after all.) Does every character in fiction need to fit into this stereotypical feminist protagonist?
Argue that the books fell flat for you. Argue that you thought Jacob and Edward were abusive. But don't tell me the books set women back two hundred years.

Kristen Stewart Quote of the Day
Q: How long did it take to shake off the character of Bella?
KS: I bought a truck, the truck that Charlie [Bella's dad] has in the movie, and I drove it home from Portland, and it was like driving away... Not that it was something I had to get away from. It was just, it was such a complete experience. I got over it. I drove all the way home. I mean, it was okay. [laughs] It didn't take that long. Just the drive home, I guess.

I was thinking about Leah this morning.
Do you think becoming a werewolf (shape-shifter, whatever) is better or worse for her Sam situation?

Question of the Day - Weekend Edition
I am still so, so, so excited for the Twilight movie. I saw Mamma Mia! with my sister the other night and when we saw the Twilight movie poster up on the wall, we both yelped and did a little dance.
Therefore, I am really excited for New Moon and Eclipse movies, too. And I can pretty much see how they'd do these movies, even though New Moon is a lot of inner monologue (I think they'd just have to expand Jacob's role a lot, which is fine by me!). I think the premise and plot still work, movie-wise.
However...even though I'm liking Breaking Dawn a lot more, I can't see it as a movie. Can you really picture a little toddler playing the part of Renesmee? Or Bella's "shield"? Or Kristen Stewart with a huge, swollen black belly, and Rob Pattinson biting it to get the baby out? *shudder* I just think that for as much trouble as I had with some of those images in my head, they just wouldn't work out on screen.
So, I'll get to the question of the weekend...do you think Breaking Dawn could be a movie? Why or why not? What would they do if they didn't include it?

She admits it was odd writing!
Someone last night asked why Edward calls jacob son at the end-
SM admits it was an odd writing moment, but that Edward's voice was really loud in her head at the moment. She says at this point Edward really had accepted Renesme's future and Jacob, there was no ressentment anymore. She admits it was totally cheesy-but that she burst into tears writing it...
Also- if you didn't pick up on it, Billy and Charlie are on the outs because of Sue- a love triangle going on! Billy and Charlie are not talking anymore because Charlie moved in on Sue and Billy had planned to!
SM also says that everything in New Moon and Eclipse was heading toward Renesme- She says if you look for it, it is there. She also says that She knew Jacob would imprint on Renesme as soon as she finished Twilight and worked on the back stories.

Vampires having babies...answered?
SM: There were several questions along this line, as you might imagine. I picked this one specifically because I want you to imagine for the last year, me going online and reading all of these ‘Stephenie said this quote quote…’ that I never said. Um, there was quite a bit of mis-quoting going on and I was always, always very careful about how I answered this question because of course, I knew Renesme was on the way and I didn’t want to spoil that and take away some of the excitement of something new happening so I tried to avoid that as much as possible, but when I did I always focused on female vampires because physiologically speaking, there’s a lot of change that goes on when you’re pregnant with a child that couldn’t happen. So when I answered that question, that was all I ever really commented on. It is physically possible [sic: for males vampires], I don’t want to go into it in too much detail. I think what’s going to happen, it’s a whole long thing. I’m guessing, I think it’s going to have to show up somewhere in like the Twilight Saga guide that’s going to come out later.
Question- does this make anyone else feel as if she doesn't really know how it happends? Why won't she go into it in detail?

The cover.
SM: "So this cover has kind of two things going on. One is a metaphor for the entire series because you have Bella going from being the weakest player on the board to being the most powerful one. So that’s the main meaning, that’s what I wanted to have on there. Then I also the feeling of a chess game because I knew that the end of the story was not going to be a great big huge battle scene. This was a court scene. This was maneuvering and having your plans and I thought that was really suited to chess so that was another reason I like that metaphor."

Why such an extreme move?
I was just browsing over on Twilight Moms and I am utterly surprised and dissapointed with them. They have locked a thread that was opened for people who where not too thrilled about Breaking Dawn. They have a rule at that website of no bashing- Now I have read many of the comments from people who were not too thrilled with BD, they have all been written very well and respectfully. Yet, the TM moderators have even taken the move to make some of the posters feel as if they need to appologize for their dissapointment in BD.
The website states: If you don’t like or hate any of the characters (or actors portraying the characters in any of the books written by Stephenie Meyer, this site is not for you)
....hmmmmmm.
Thoughts??
***edited note*** The TM posts are up and running now. Tm's are heavily patrolling the "not so happy thread" - people are making very clear statements for not likeing the book, and TM's are constantly putting up the rule reminder. People are getting frusterated becuuse it is the people who liked the book who are bashing the people who where dissapointed.--- just intereseting how these books can bring all our fangs out!

SM Quote of the Day
SM: "It doesn't make me anxious," Meyer said. "I think you have to be afraid of the fall. And I'm not. I was in a good place beforehand. I didn't really have a Cinderella story because Cinderella is, you know, this abused shut-in, right? I have this great family. And I live in a place I really love. And so my life wasn't bad to begin with. It was already good.
"So if everything goes away tomorrow and no one ever picks up another one of my books and no other movies are made and I just stay in my house, I'm gonna be OK with that. So I'm not afraid of anything."

Ever wonder how he gets that fab hair?
Robert, how do you get your hair like that?

SVC Will Not Be Posting Breaking Dawn Related Posts
For a couple days at least.
When most of us have finished, we will start posting Breaking Dawn posts but we will include a banner at the top of the page so you will know. We don't want anyone getting accidentally spoiled. :)

Question of the Day.
I am so nervous. I popped right out of bed this morning with tons of thoughts going through my head. Are you like me?
Is there anything making you particularly nervous about the books? What question, more than anything, do you want answered in this last book?

Robert Pattinson Quote of the Day
Robert: "I think Cedrick is really a polite guy, and I wasn't really before. So I kinda become alot more polite during the film- and uh, I've started to hold doors open for people and things, and saying thank you for everything. People would say hello to me and I would say thank you back."
Just a little flash back to his HP interviewing days. He really kills me- too funny.
