So I stumbled upon pics of the Cullens' Crest, created by Artisans Designs. Here is one of the pictures.
My question this weekend is:
What do you think it stands for?
Why the Lion?
Why the Hand?
Why the Clovers?
What do you think in general of this idea for the movie?
Here are some more great pics of the Cullen Crest
tattoo anyone ;)

11 enjoyed the bouquet.:
Good question, but I think I will have to pass on the tattoo :)
Well, I'm not quite sure what it means. Lions are strong, loyal, and usually the "kings" of the jungle, so maybe it stands for power?
The hand reminds me of one of those fortune telling hands, because the palm is up. Which makes sense (kind of), being that Edward and Alice can see the future and read thoughts.
The clovers are interesting because they are very Irish (are any of the Cullens Irish?), and they are three leafed, which has some spiritual meaning.
The more I look at it, the lion looks like a dragon? Was it written somewhere that it's a lion?
I just went back and read the MTV article, and it is a lion. I guess the arrow is suppose to mean something too.
I'm not ready to think yet today, but I wanted to say that I think that hand looks kind of weird floating around up there.
But I would still love a huuuge cullen ring.
maybe I will have thoughts and post them re:symbolism later.
I really like the Cullen Crest. I'm glad that they found something cool to market instead of t-shirts that say Twilight.
The Lex lists historic meaning of the symbols:
Lion - Dauntless courage
Hand - Pledge of faith, sincerity, and justice
Shamrock - Perpetuity
Chevron - Protection; Builders or others who have accomplished some work of faithful service
Of course, that doesn't mean the artist/marketing dept actually thought of the historic meaning.
... or maybe it isn't symbols and these proessional dudes have no idea what they're doing and just wanted to make a cool crest^^
wtf is a chevron?
Lulz, no idea what they're doing, sounds like something I would do:D
Sam- these are in the Movie, and it was Catherine's idea for them. Check out this past weeks Twilight Tuesday for more info.
I don't really care about the crest. I like to concept for the family to be connected, but I don't think that it really means anything besides "We're the Cullens and we're awesome"
Yeah, from what the interviews with the cast told me, it's just a crest to have a crest. They didn't know why it was a lion, or a shamrock, or a hand. It's definitely open for interpretation, but I'm not sure they put a lot of thought into it before creating it. It's cool, though!
I think that even though the actors don't know- there is def a reason for the symbols. Catherine seems the type to do things for a reason- i am sure thought was put into it.
i am entrigued by the palm... I just don't knwo what it means.
sam--chevron is a clover (I think)
I would like to believe that it means something, and I am sure that it does, but probably something generic... lion = brave, etc etc.
or maybe they just wanted something that looks cool? I still like it; it would make a kick ass huge ring. or necklace.
Hello!
First off...I'm kinda torn over the crest...some parts of me think it's cool...others think it's kinda dorky! Do they all put their crests together and yell "GO CULLENS!!" ?
A chevron is the "v" that the clovers are on! They are used GREATLY in the the military to mark years of service (alot of High Schools use them on Letter jackets as well!)
I have enjoyed the thoughts as to what everything means...maybe as time goes by we'll get more info as to what it all means!!
