We're all (well, except for a select awesome few) hanging out at Erin's reading/discussing the special edition of Eclipse and fearing for our lives while a deadly tornado hovers above us.
Ok, not really. But close. And coming?

Question of the Day
So, this question is pure fun, not a whole lot of thought required. I think it arose from our awesome chat we had last night :), and the books we have been reading with all these really great male characters. The Host, The Mortal Instruments Series, and of course, TWILIGHT!
Which fictional male character are you most drawn to, and why?
Mine would have to be Ian. I absolutely adore him. He's kind, honest, and I loved the fact that he fell in love with Wanderer, not the body she was in. Now that's a real man!

I heart the SVC
I am so glad to have this group, you don't even know. Before, I had like these two haphazard friends who never talked to me or each other, and now I have like, a million friends. or, at least um... damn. let me count. 4? and I am so happy that you all like one another and spend time with one another without me, although I wish I were there too. I love being your monthly friends and hopefully we can see more of one another. I love hearing what you have to say on SVC, and off of SVC, and I am happy that other people can come on here and make friends with u_ too. Seriously, you don't even know how this helps me. Thank you. (hugs)

What Twilight character do you think you're most like?
Question of the day:
Which character from the Twilight series do you think you're most like? Why? In what ways?
To answer my own question, if I'm thinking of my high school-self, and I hate to say this, but Jessica Stanley. I wasn't the chatterbox she is, I don't think, nor was I as judgmental (though I think I'm less judgmental now that I know more about the world), but I did love the gossip, and I was always pining over boys who didn't like me back. Sad. And I always felt a little out of the loop.
I probably had some Bella characteristics too, I think - I was responsible and dependable, and probably got along with adults better than kids my own age at times.
Now, I don't know. I'd like to think I've become more Alice-like - excited about things, secure in my marriage, concerned for my family. But that's not really it. Maybe I need to think about it some more.

This is not a question of the day, but...
...at some point we need to figure out our Soul Names and Vampire Powers.
I'm pretty sure we have our Host Names down. ;-) I hope.
Just a reminder! Keep thinking!
Bitten by Erin at 2:06 PM 5 enjoyed the bouquet.
Question of the Day
Did certain parts of the books make you uncomfortable? If so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect of your life you might not have thought about before?
To answer my own question, I have thought a lot about my reluctance to like Jacob. It took me reading NM three times before I actually felt any sort of sympathy for him. I am still hesitant to feel sorry for him in Eclipse. I like to say it's because I'm fiercely loyal to Edward, but mostly it's because I'm a cold-hearted bitch.
Honestly, some of Bella's behavior in NM reflects some of my college behavior: getting my heart broken and using a nice guy (who obviously liked me) to fill the void. When I was finally over it, I didn't want to have anything to do with Mr. Nice Guy. Mr. Nice Guy became Mr. Super Annoying Guy (to no fault of his own).
So I can totally relate to Bella on this level. And Jacob is the nice guy.

Steph had anwered one of our questions:
I just read from her Portland signing that Steph was asked the question regarding which character would be narrating the next book after The Host... I believe we have been discussing this abit. The answer is: Wanderer.
Bitten by Jes at 11:00 AM 2 enjoyed the bouquet.
Question of the Day
I am sure we all remember our "first love" --that person that we would do anything for, would die without, would never stop loving... Bella and Edward have an immediate and strong attraction to each other. (Not necessarily a positive attraction, but they both are quite absorbed by the other at first). Do you believe in love at first sight? Is there some kind of destiny at work here or is this an intense version of first love? Or first lust? Do you think this would have happened if Edward weren't a vampire and Bella didn't smell so damn good?
Discuss. I expect fully formed opinions and back and forth banter.

This is my pick for Jace
Jace, the super sexy guy from the book series "The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare. He is supposed to have like white hair and tawny, sparkling eyes. He is sarcastic and so hot. Anyway, I was reading City of Bones last night (the first book in the series) and as I fell asleep, I tried to come up with the person I would like to play Jace. I decided on Ryan Gosling. What do you think? Who would be your Jace?

Karaoke
I've been daydreaming all day about what songs I want to sing.
I've made Matt sing "I'll Be There" in the style of Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz with me before, which is pretty funny (and I think the lyrics fit Jacob's situation really well, in some ways - so it's Twilight-related!). Maybe that one? Or "Shoop" again? Also Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". And possibly "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Rescue Me" again.
What groups songs are on the docket? We could do "Hitch Me Baby" again, but as I was thinking about "Shoop," my mind wandered to Salt n Pepa, and I thought we could do a a group version of "(La) Push It". Haaaaaaa. And there's always "Damaged"!
I wish it was the weekend already.

Ryah: The cheese is the alien?
Kari is making Bloody Marys (Maries?) as we speak, though that is much more Twilight-related. Stuffed chicken is on the menu.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!
Here was my original e-mail to the SVC girls - thought we could discuss it here!
People, let me step outside my usual adoration of you all and say WTF?!? Where have you led me with these books? Alas, I am still trusting that it will get better. I didn't react like this for NM. I knew Edward would return. I don't know how I can get past incest, though, and I feel so icky for wanting Clary and Jace together. Thing is, you all unintentionally WILLED me to love Jace back when I only loved Simon. Though I probably would have started loving him on my own by the time they were in the greenhouse on Clary's birthday.
But I still trust you all.
I was LOVING...loving...the book until Valentine became everyone's dad. AGGHHH. I kind of figured he'd be Clary's, and for a brief moment in time, I contemplated if he'd be Jace's - even thinking that J.C. is Jace (kind like on how Full House D.J. Tanner was Deej, I thought to myself oh so innocently), and ... sob ...
OK, rant over. This e-mail is therapeutic, I'm actually starting to look forward to COA as I type.
Other thoughts:
1. Can we put together a playlist sometime for these? Are there any "I love my brother in an inappropriate way" kind of songs?
2. Kari - could we get the COB/COA font? I kind of want a tshirt that says "Jace is not MY brother..." or "SVC Vampires: Downworlders are Sexy" (I have several other ideas, but you get the point)
3. I kind of want a rune tattoo. But maybe just a henna one, since I'm a complete wuss and crybaby.
4. I read the COA dust jacket summary, and now I think I'm supposed to love Simon again. Hmph. I can't stop thinking of him as a rat-faced guy now, though, nor how he smelled like parking lot (according to Clary on her bday before she goes to the greenhouse with Jace).
5. I hate Hodge, possibly more than Valentine.
6. Isn't weird how COB werewolves heal fast, too? But I don't think their vampires are nearly as sexy as SM's, despite Clary noting that they were all good-looking. But vampires are always sexy, as Kari said.

My family thinks I'm nuts.
I spent the weekend in Hayward with my family. They think I'm crazy, and are probably right. But you guys understand...I hope? Twilight Brain is nothing new.
Just a few reasons why they think so:
1. There was a Jacob Road. And I really, really wanted to take it. Who knows if it led to a Wisconsin La Push?
2. There was evidently a bear outside the cabin last night, and I wasn't afraid. Emmett would surely get it for me...
3. At the liquor store, there was a wine list on the wall, and right under the wine Bella Sera was Black Swan...I actually yelped seeing "Bella" and "Swan" so close together.
4. There were some deer hanging out near the window, and I was hoping to see Edward (a la the trailer).
5. Near the LCO Casino, there's a little gift shop called "Rosalie's."
There are several other reasons, mostly stemming from last night when I had too much to drink and was running my mouth about the books, but you get the gist. ;-) My sister (who's read all three books) and Matt (who's in the middle of Eclipse) were getting pretty annoyed with me.

In other news: I thought of a pretty good question for SM that I SO wish I would have thought of before the Q&A. I think it might have been asked. It deals with both the Twilight and The Host. I might message her on MySpace with it, even though I'm sure she won't have time to answer...but I think I'll wait until I'm done with The Host, as I have another question I want to ask about it but just want to ensure that it's not answered at the end of the book.
I started off this post thinking I wanted to share the first question, but now I'm not sure if it would spoil things for people...I'm only 200 pages into The Host (but I'm very addicted right now...should finish soon, I think). Maybe I'll just write it down and save it for later.

I refuse to sew any more bags right now, but I was thinking that in three weeks, when I stop being so lazy, I would buy a tote like this for $3.50 at Joannes, then I would make a patch like my jacob one except I would use my design of the apple with fang marks

Without giving away any pertinent information...
How is the Host? I am still working on "Lonely Werewolf Girl," (its actually a 550 page book; I've got another hundred to go...). And I will feel guilty for starting the host before reading the...uh... five or so other books I've purchased in the past week. But maybe if you guys tell me how much it kicks ass I won't feel so guilty and will get my booty in gear to finish aforementioned werewolf book.
ps. thanks for all the updates and pictures and having my book signed and all that. I tried to wear my bella bracelet today to be "with" you, but I never really fixed it, and it didn't work. Am considering taking apart some other piece of jewlery to use the clasp... alas, I am talking too much on what should be a vampire-related blog.

Twilight: The Musical
Sorry in advance for the incredibly long post. I just copied it from a Word doc and it's way longer on here.
So...here's what I've been brainstorming today. I was wracking my brain for ideas for a Twilight musical, and I think we could use existing musical numbers and just re-write the lyrics to suit the story. So - the tune would be the same, and sometimes it would be a similar theme (hence why I chose what I chose), but it'd be all about Twilight. A few of the gaps need to be filled in (like Bella/Edward falling in love could use another song, and Bella's fight with Charlie before leaving for Phoenix), and more than a few of these could be cut...or saved for New Moon: The Musical. :-)
This is total copyright infringement, but could be really funny.
